Default Can a fleshlight help re-sesitize my penis?

I noticed the email I got about discontinuing some products so I thought I would try making a post on my problem.

My problem is that I don't get very little pleasure from sexual stimulation in recent years from both masturbation and sex. This includes beginning, middle and end. That is I get little pleasure from my orgasms as well. I still think I have a healthy sex-drive but orgasms are more for relieving my labido rather then for pleasure. A good analogy is orgasms to me are like a full bladder finally able to relieve itself.

I remember back when I first got my set of fleshlights that some people on the forums mentioned that the fleshlight could help re-sensitize their penis. I believe this was for people who masturbated with an iron grip which wouldn't be the case for me. I've more or less been using the fleshlight for masturbation exclusively for several years now. I doubt that it could have damaged my penis.

My longtime girlfriend is also upset that I don't get much sexual pleasure from having sex with her. Don't get me wrong I enjoy being intimate with her and I want to spent my life with her. I want to help her to not feel insecure about this issue as well since I believe she feels guilty that she can enjoy herself fully.

I have seen my doctor and an urologist about the issue and they say there isn't much I can do. The only answers I received is that it could be performance anxiety which is doubtful in my case. I have depression which I don't. The final possibility is that it could be my epilepsy medication or the condition itself. I've been taking it for a few years longer then I've has this issue though.

Now I was wondering is there any chance with some training or some sort of fleshlight could help me so I can slowly work towards being able to fully enjoy sex and masturbating again? Since I got my fleshlight ages ago I don't have all the new fancy ones so if those would help let me know. I do have the STU, wonderwave, speedbump and super ribbed.

I guess I should throw in some background info.

I'm 26, non smoker/drinker, reasonable fit and uncut. If there is any other relevant info that would be helpful please ask.

    Thanks

What is the longest you have gone without masturbating/having sex?

I would suggest that you don't touch yourself for 1-2 weeks (yes it is hard) and give your cock nerves a vacation.

I have tried not masturbating or having sex for several day or more to see if it would help in the past a few times when my girlfriend or myself had to be out of town.

Half of the time I would end up having a wet dream after 4-5 days of abstaining. In the end it would make me horny as hell towards the end of it but it wouldn't help with re-sensitizing.

Something I forgot to mention is that if I have a extended sexual session, going back and forth from foreplay and intercourse say over an hour my orgasm would be somewhat pleasurable. However even a poor orgasm a few years back would have been just as good. Extended session don't work as well with masturbation however. Also the stimulation leading up to orgasm would still have little to no pleasure.

It sounds like you're not turned on at all during sex and you are just going through the motions to get a load out. Sex is not only about the orgasm, you should enjoy yourself during the whole act.

The only advice I can give you is to stop masturbating with your hand, that's number one. Number two would be to figure out your sexual triggers and let your girlfriend know about them so she can help you. Don't put all your energy into stimulation of your cock. You have an entire body to play with and explore.

Look over at http://www.reddit.com/r/sex if you can find someone with similar issues as you.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy the intimacy and I love pleasuring my girlfriend. I am before and during but the pleasure isn't there for whatever reason.

I pretty much never masturbate with my hand. Most of my sexual stimulation comes from when I'm with my girlfriend or when I use my fleshlight.

I find my girlfriend to be very cute and she is sexy as hell when we get into it so I'm not sure what I should do with the triggers here.

Anyways thank you for your time and assistance FleshlightDude.

Do you watch porn? You might have stimulation overload from looking at porn and this can definitely cause the problems you are having. I think your cock is probably fine, several years of exclusive FL use should leave it in tip top shape. I'm guessing that this is a mental condition and porn is probably the main trigger. I would avoid all porn for a week or more and see how that affects you.

I do watch porn but not that often at least in comparison to my teenage and early college days. I would say I watch porn once a week or so. I'll definitely cut porn out completely for a month or so to see if that helps at all.

I also agree with orlandot94 it's a mentally. live like a good monk for a week or three and limit the sex after that to once a week for some time. the brain will balance the hormones it normally releases for your sex activities. Yes it's hard to do but just give it a try

First thing I would do is find out about any and all medications you take. A lot of them the side effects will decrease sex drive and many of them will make it difficult to even get hard. Once you know what your medicines do that will give you a direction in speaking with your doctors. I know for instance there are some Blood pressure medications that will cause this but there are some that wonít, so all I am saying is start with medications because you do take at least one you have mentioned you can go on line or look at the insert that comes with the medication and it will list everything known.

I can tell you from experience when one of my doctors wanted me to take a medicine the first thing I told him was I will not take anything that will affect me being able to have sex. So with some medicines it can be achieved.

If your medicines you take do not cause this problem then it is something else you will need to figure out.

No sex either for a few weeks huh followed by only once a week for a while huh? That might be tough since having sex quite regularly but I'll give it a try. If it helps I guess it's worth it. I guess I need to figure out a good explanation on why we shouldn't have sex for a while.

My medication shouldn't effect me sexually from what my doctors tell me. Plus I've been on them for quite a few years before this became an issue. They did say it could be an effect of my medical condition since it is quite rare (1 in 150,000 I believe) and since it isn't well studied that it could be from that. They treated it with medication used to treat common conditions that are somewhat similar if you're wondering.

Ok, just trying to give ideas in case you had not thought of them. I don't know enough about your condition to know if there is anything published on it regarding reduced sex drive. The only reason I brought up the medications is that most people don't realize how many adverse reactions medications have. Myself having a strong sex drive as I said, I always talk to my doctors about any medications they want me to take and I read the inserts or go on line to the manufacturer that makes the medication to see what the down side is to the medication before I will agree to take it.

A lot of the guys here will have ideas you can try and see if it helps. Good luck and I hope your sex drive comes back.

Stress can be a big factor. The the thyroid can also have an effect. Also diet. I would look into libido boosting foods. I can't post links yet, but I can get back to you.

Would you mind saying exactly what medication it is? A lot of medicines for depression, anxiety, epilepsy and any other neurological problems can cause reduced feelings of pleasure, difficulty reaching orgasm, lack of libido and other sexual side effects. I work in a health care field (not a doctor) but shockingly very few doctors are well-versed in sexual health. If your condition is rare the doctors may not know or it may not have been very well researched.

    Thanks for the responses.

I guess there might be some miscommunication here. The issue here isn't sexual desire its the lack of sensation I get from sexual stimulation from both masturbation and sex as well as poor orgasms.

I'm on Phenytoin (Dilantin) which is used to treat epilepsy. My condition itself isn't considered to be a form of epilepsy to some experts. It has been shown that anti-epileptic medication can be effective in controlling the condition.

Thank you for your insight Planet X. It does seem true that most doctors aren't very well versed in my condition and I wouldn't doubt that many in the neurological field aren't well versed in sexual health. They are only considering that my condition or the medication could be a factor since they just don't know since my condition isn't well studied. In fact I had to see several neurologist over the course of 2 years before one finally was finally able to make a diagnosis and prescribed me medication. I've been on it since I was a teenager so about a decade now. However I've only noticed the lack of sensation the past few years so it's hard to say if it has something to do with my condition or not.

I am still reading about your condition, and again like Planet X said, a lot of doctors are not aware of all medications and like you said it took several doctors to diagnose your condition. But I can see where this medication from what I am getting out of the information could cause issues with sensitivity. I am coping a pasting some of the side effects which if you notice one is pain and or causing your penis to curve. You may not have pain or curving but if it can affect the nervous system, and like Planet X I am not a doctor and I do not know how much research you have done, but just the little bit I found in my opinion could cause the sensitivity issue you are having. I know you cannot believe everything you read on the Internet as the one commercial says, but this is from a .gov site and if you were to go to the company that makes the drug it should have the same information.

Even in the website you have it says it can affect the central nervous system. Neuropathy is a big thing for diabetics and so I would say that what you have according to the web site you gave could cause an issue. Here is another web site about Neuropathy and you will notice it can cause issues for sex.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peripheral_neuropathy

Again, I am not a doctor nor do I pretend to be nor would I tell you what you should do except seek out a doctor as you did for diagnosis and see if any of this could be related to how you are feeling or not.

Phenytoin may cause side effects. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:

    • constipation
    • unwanted hair growth
    • coarsening of facial features
    • enlargement of lips
    • overgrowth of gums
    • pain or curving of the penis

Some sideeffects can be serious. If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:

    • swollen glands
    • fever
    • blisters
    • rash
    • joint pain
    • yellowing of the skin or eyes
    • pain in the upper right part of the stomach
    • excessive tiredness
    • unusual bruising or bleeding
    • loss of appetite
